Winston Dane is a two-broker team working Lake Norman and Greater Charlotte — Cornelius, Davidson, Huntersville, Mooresville, Denver, Sherrills Ford, Terrell, Troutman and Statesville. We're both Broker/Owners, we're married, and between us we've been doing this here since 2017.
The short version of what makes us different: we don't just list your home — we market it. That isn't a tagline we picked because it sounded good. It's a description of where our time actually goes. Most listings get put in the MLS and waited on. Ours get a launch plan, professional film and photography, a 3D tour, a coming-soon audience built before the sign goes in the ground, and a marketing sequence that keeps running in week three when there's no offer yet — which is exactly when most marketing goes quiet.
Wendy Atherton — Broker/Owner
Wendy runs strategy: pricing, positioning, marketing and negotiation. She specializes in seller representation and in the moves that come with a life change rather than a job change — downsizing, right-sizing, settling an estate. She's the one who will tell you the number you don't want to hear about your own house, which is the only reason the number she gives you is worth anything.
She also writes most of what's in the journal, including the pieces on 55+ communities that people keep finding at 11pm when they're thinking about a change.
Sean Herndon — Broker/Owner
Sean handles Lake Norman waterfront and Greater Charlotte with a concierge approach built for people who don't have spare hours — busy professionals, relocating families, and owners managing a transition they'd rather not have to project-manage themselves. He coordinates the surrounding cast: real estate attorneys, lenders, financial advisors, organizers and movers.
For out-of-state buyers he runs virtual tours and neighborhood orientation before anyone books a flight, so the trip is spent deciding rather than discovering. Outside of work he's a past President of North Mecklenburg Rotary (2023–2024), a CrossFitter, and a reliable presence on the local greenways with the dog.
How we actually work
- A planning conversation first. Goals, timeline, constraints, and what "a good outcome" means for you specifically — before anything is listed or toured.
- You get both of us. Not a rotating team of assistants. Two brokers who both know your file, so nothing stalls because one of us is at a closing.
- Written, in advance. Agreements, milestones, costs and compensation are stated in writing before you commit to anything. All brokerage compensation is negotiable — see what selling actually costs in NC.
- Local means local. Nine towns, four counties, and the property-tax and shoreline rules that differ across all of them. That knowledge is the difference between a lake house and the wrong lake house.
Track record
We've been selling in this market since 2017, and hold a 4.9-star average across 37 Google reviews — which is the number we'd rather be judged on, because it's the one that reflects how the work actually felt for the people who hired us. You can read what clients said in their own words, or go straight to the source on our Google Business Profile.
